Alpha Zeta

ALPHA ZETA
Alpha Zeta was founded in 1999 in the Veneto in north-eastern Italy by UK wine importer and MW David Gleave, and New Zealand winemaker Matt Thomson. The name Alpha Zeta was chosen, because for every letter of the alphabet from A to Z an example can be found that epitomises their work. Their ethos is to express the character of both the grape variety and the land, and create wines at everyday prices. They have achieved this aim by working closely with growers whose vineyards are planted with indigenous Veronese grapes on the hills in two locations which together cover close to 1,900 hectares. With the exception of some of the Pinot Grigio vines, the grapes are grown in the Valpantena Valley which lies north-east of Verona, planted on chalky soils, but some Pinot Grigio is grown on granite and decomposed volcanic rock, which create steelier wines in the eastern Soave in the Alpone Valley. With this extensive range of vineyards to choose from, the potential of the region can be fully explored. The flavours of the grape shine through in these fruit-driven wines which are modern and innovative, whilst expressing the inherent soul of the Veneto, and represent outstanding value for money!
