Expert Reviews

Robert Parker (2008)90 pts

Wine Advocate # 182. Apr 2009. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2008 Trio Reserva Red Blend from Rapel is predominantly Merlot with some Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. A glass-coating opaque purple, the nose delivers scents of scorched earth, violets, mineral, blackcurrant, plum, and blueberry. Silky-textured and layered on the palate with gobs of ripe fruit and serious concentration, this superb blend over-delivers big-time. Buy it by the case and drink it over the next four years. Drink: 2009 - 2013.

Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 89pts (2006) -"Lovely nose: dark, spicy blackcurrant fruit and brilliant focus, as well as a spicy, mineral edge. The palate shows focused blackcurrant fruit. Approachable and balanced."

Tom Cannavan (2008)89 pts

Tom Cannavan, wine-pages.com, 89pts (2008) -"From Rapel. Very sweet, dark, juicy and fat berry fruit. There's a touch of leather and some tiny gamy notes. The palate has a plushness of black fruit, but the drying, peppery and earthy spice of the Carmenère fills in, with a fairly lean but juicy cherry finish."

Miscellaneous (2009)

nicedrop.wordpress.com - tasted nov 2011 - "But back to the wine, after a few nights of drinking just beer we craved a decent red and the 2009 Concha y Toro Trio Reserva Merlot Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon did the trick. It was mellow and complex with a jumble of flavours competing for attention. It’s a Chilean export that stands on the world stage and is well worth giving a go. It’s made in the new world style with a strong fruit driven approach, but enough oak to keep the interest levels there."
