Casillero del Diablo’s outstanding value reds

The Casillero del Diablo range of wines from Chile's Concha Y Toro can claim, with some justification, to be simply the best value range of wines in the world.
Writing in the Daily Mail in February 2012 wine critic Matthew Jukes suggested that the 2010 Casillero Cabernet Sauvignon was the finest value cabernet on the planet. And writing in the Times, Jane Macquitty listed the 2010 Carmenere as one of the Times top 50 Summer Wines advising that it was the "best wine for barbecues". With a Parker rating of 88pts that's a lot of value at our sale price of just £5.25btl at the case rate.
As the Wine Advocate's Jay Miller observed with reference to his latest Casillero reviews "Concha y Toro is the largest wine producer in Chile …(and) remarkably, they are also one of the quality leaders and innovators leading the country forward." Casillero is a premium wine line elaborated with selected grapes from the richest Chilean valleys. Each creation expresses all the essence and core features of its variety, in a blend of bouquets, flavors and style worked on with delicacy.
As well as the reviews for each wine ( and please note that these are generally one vintage behind the vintage offered), bear in mind that all of the wines here are medal winners at the world's leading wine competitions. The Malbec 2011 won Bronze Medals at this years Decanter and International Wine Challenge Awards as well as a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The 2010 Shiraz also won Bronze Medals at the 2011 Decanter and International Wine Challenge Awards and Gold at the Japan Wine Challenge. The 2011 Merlot won a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles as well as a Gold Medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy. The 2010 Pinot Noir won a Silver Medal at the Michaelangelo Wine Awards and the 2009 vintage a Gold Medal at the Japan Wine Challenge. And, finally, (phew) both the 2010 Cabernet and the 2010 Carmenere won Silver Medals at the International Wine Challenge 2011 and Gold Medals at Mundus Vini.
