Welcome to the winedirect art gallery! We thought it would be interesting, and fun, to put together a selection of wine related paintings, prints and cartoons and feature these on our website. While most of the works will centre around wine as a theme, we will also feature works which may serve simply as an attractive counterpoint to a case of wine. All works are sold unmounted but we are happy to arrange mounting and framing on request - with an additional charge of course. We think that all of these works will make a marvelous addition to any wine lover’s home. Whether you buy or browse we hope you will enjoy our first exhibition! And if you would like to recommend any artists for us to exhibit then please let us know by emailing feedback@winedirect.co.uk.
These charming and colourful lithographs of the great wine estates of Bordeaux were painted by Charles Mozley ( 1914-1991), a prolific British commercial artist who graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1937 and achieved modest renown as one of the leading poster book jacket designers from the 1950s through to the 1970s.
He did a substantial body of work for the wine trade and these lithographs are from an original set of 25, all published as a limited edition of 150 by ‘Christie Wine Publications’ in association with ‘Hedges and Butler Ltd’. They are printed on ‘BK Rives France’ paper.

Two superb limited edition collections of 9 humorous French wine tasting prints whose origins were printed c1927. The wonderful facial expressions depict the rituals of wine appreciation from ‘Pulling the cork’, ‘Sniffing the cork’, ‘Pouring slowly’, ‘Observing’, ‘Mental preparation’, ‘Tasting’ and finally ‘Appreciating’. The original bound copies are now extremely scarce and rarely appear for sale. These numbered collections of only 50 sets are believed to have been issued in Paris about 10 years ago.
