At winedirect.co.uk we’re committed to giving you an online experience as close as possible to tasting the wines yourself.
We’re delighted to launch our first set of web videos featuring wine expert Jamie Goode. Jamie spent a day with us sampling wines from our portfolio and we shot these videos live as he tasted the wines so you get his impressions direct and unscripted. Over the next 12 months we’ll be adding many more wine tasting videos to our site so you can sample the flavours of our wines without leaving the comfort of your home. And perhaps we can tempt you to buy some as well!
First a little about Jamie......Jamie Goode obtained his PhD in plant biology from London University in 1992 and worked as a science editor for a decade before deciding that his passions lay with wine. He began by establishing a wine website, www.wineanorak.com, and subsequently began writing for a range of wine magazines. In 2006 he won a Glenfiddich award for his first book, Wine science (Mitchell Beazeley), which is published in the USA as The science of wine ( University of California Press ). In 2007 he was shortlisted for the IWSC Communicator of the year award, and won a second Glenfiddich award, this time as Wine Writer of the Year. He writes a weekly column for national newspaper The Sunday Express, and is currently working on a book titled Natural wine, with Sam Harrop MW.
We would really like to know what you think of the videos – do you find it useful in evaluating which wine to choose. Just let us know at feedback@winedirect.co.uk. The first 5 thoughtful replies will win a copy of the new edition of The World Atlas of Wine by Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson.
