Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 188. Apr 2010. Reviewer : Robert Parker. The 2009 La Fleur Morange Mathilde is bottled early in order to emphasize the fruit character of the vineyard. With 14.5% alcohol, it is an exuberant, pure, hedonistic pleasure bomb filled with fruit and glycerin. Medium to full-bodied with no hard edges, it was fashioned from 100% Merlot from 50+-year old vines. (Tasted once.). Jancis Robinson: Date tasted : 01-Apr-2010 / Published : 08-Apr-2010. Very deep crimson, Lifted mulberry scents on the nose. Combination of opulence and energy though the oak is a little dominant at the moment. Very soft start and the wine tastes extraordinarily hand-crafted. Very very sweet and sinewy. Needs a heck of a lot of time. Such intensity runs through it. Very vibrant. Still lots of tannin – maybe just slightly inky. When to drink : 2018 to 2030. Wine Spectator: Updated: April 15, 2010. Blueberry and intense flowers. Massive nose. Full bodied yet reserved, with silky tannins and a fruity and refined finish. Seamless. From 100-year-old vines. —J.S.
