Description: A challenging season redemmed by an ideal autumn producing a modest but intensely flavoured crop. Cloudy Bay Te Koko 2005 offers a tantalizing medley of aromas … ripe citrus, green mango and passion fruit imbued with lemon thyme, fresh ginger and exotic spices. The finely structured palate balances a nougat-rich generosity with citrus fresh succulence and a delicious mineral edge … leading to a long, lingering finish.Robert Parker: Wine Advocate Issue #176. Apr 2008. Reviewer : Neal Martin. The 2005 Te Koko Sauvignon Blanc has an attractive nose with touches of orange blossom, sherbet and rosewater. The palate is well-balanced with pleasant apple, pear and apricot flavors and a light, quite refined finish that has more delineation than the 2004.Wine Spectator: Issue: Aug 31, 2008. Supple, plush and very ripe, with outstanding depth to banana cream, guava, lemon curd and tangy fresh lime notes. Vanilla oak melts gracefully into the fruit, lingering through the finish. Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now. 400 cases imported. –DS.Stephen Tanzer: Sep/Oct 05. By Stephen Tanzer. (fermented with wild yeasts, then racked into oak, 10% new, for an 18-month elevage, including a year on the lees; 100% malolactic fermentation) Smoky aromas of pear, truffle, honeysuckle and vanilla. Then bright, tight and concentrated, with lovely purity of fruit considering the wine's truffley, leesy quality. Offers very good intensity but comes across as less ripe and rich than the musky, dense 2001.
