Description: A subtle, yet complicated, grape variety with a tinge of mystery in its expression. Its aroma is reminiscent of black nuts and sun-ripened raspberries, and the wine boasts a tightly woven structure. Silky and full of finesse, this St.Laurent makes for very smooth drinking. Raspberry, cherry and blackberry provide an intense combination on the palate. A real delicacy. Wine Spectator: Issue: May 15, 2006. Concentrated and fresh, with focused raspberry, blackberry and red plum flavors. Kirsch and currant notes enliven the finish. Drink now through 2008. 2,085 cases made. –KM. Stephen Tanzer: Nov/Dec 06. By Peter Moser. Dark ruby-garnet with violet highlights. Inviting bing cherry aroma complicated by mandarin zest, herbs and damp forest floor nuances. Compact and spicy in the mouth, with typical varietal flavors of cassis and bitter amarelle cherry. Medium-bodied, nicely balanced wine with a firm acid structure. Finishes with citrus and violet notes. Drink now to 2012.
