Description: Rich red berry character with great length, a balanced wine of surprising elegance that will age well for 5-10 years. Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 175. Feb 2008. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2005 Aalto, made from 100% Tinto Fino, is a deep purple color with an enticing nose of wood smoke, bacon, floral notes, spice box, and blackberry. This leads to a powerful, layered, intense wine already beginning to show complex flavors. Structured for 5-7 years of further evolution, this strong effort will be at its best from 2015 to 2030. Drink: 2015 - 2030. Jancis Robinson: Published : 15-Aug-2007. Cask sample. Cool with lots of mulberries, but fresh too. Very open, rich and a real step up from previous vintages of this regular bottling. Complete and glossy. Very long and satisfying. When to drink 2009 to 2015. Wine Spectator: Issue: Nov 30, 2007. This red has plenty of depth, with blackberry, cola, mineral and floral notes lurking under firm tannins, which frame the dense texture. Rich and intense. Drink now through 2014.–TM. Stephen Tanzer: Sep/Oct 08. By Josh Raynolds. Opaque purple color. Intensely perfumed nose displays spicy dark berry and floral character, with zesty minerals and black tea adding complexity. Pliant blackberry and cherry flavors are impressively fresh, becoming deeper and sweeter with air. An admirably balanced wine, playing depth against vivacity and finishing with outstanding clarity and length. This is the most elegant example of this bottling I've tasted.
