Decanter World Wine Awards (2006) Dense colour, good concentration of mulberry and cherry fruit richness, bright fruit, nicely ripe and juicy with integrated oak.
Description: Concentrated plum colour with some red reflections. Initial subtle notes of violets and black cherries give way to a pleasant wave of plums, chocolate, and caramel with a background of vanilla oak. Open-knit yet sinewy, with fine, powdery tannins and a plush texture. Very full, highly concentrated yet vibrant in the mouth, with intriguing complexity and length.Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 184. Aug 2009. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2007 Malbec Reserva is deeply colored and expansive on the palate. Aromas of spice box, cedar, underbrush, and black cherry are followed by a medium-bodied, smooth-textured, savory wine with excellent depth and length. It will drink well through 2015. Drink: 2009 - 2015.Jancis Robinson: Published : 22-Oct-2007. Very deeply coloured, blueberry and bramble fruit, sophisticated aromas and fine, fully ripe tannins. Very good acidity. Sweet, peppery and aromatic in the mid palate, with a juicy finish.(JH). When to drink : 2007 to 2009.Wine Spectator: Issue: Sep 30, 2009. This is plush, with velvety tannins carrying dark cocoa and mocha notes, along with crushed plum, currant and blackberry fruit flavors. The finish is long and solid. Drink now through 2010.–JM.Stephen Tanzer: Jan/Feb 08. By Stephen Tanzer. Deep medium ruby. Dark cherry, licorice, menthol, nuts, chocolate and a whiff of raisin on the nose. Supple and fine-grained, with a distinctly dry character to its very ripe, port-like flavors of dark berries, licorice and herbs. A rather uncompromising style of malbec with plenty of ripe acidity but in need of a bit more sweetness of fruit. Finishes with fine tannins and a sappy black cherry flavor.Cellartracker - re 2006: "Dark, inky purple in the glass. Blueberry pie meets Swisher Sweet cigar on the nose. Lacks a little acidity - somewhat unbalanced, but not unpleasant at all. Actually, it drinks very nicely. Would probably overwhelm most foods. Modest soft tannins that would help it age and integrate over the next 3-4 years. "
