Description: Green gold in colour. The nose is very lifted, floral and perfumed with rose petals, citrus blossom, lime/lemon zest, hints of slate and green peppercorns. The crisp, dry palate shows sweet fruit with rich flavours of lemon and lime, fresh acidity and excellent length.
Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 173. Oct 2007. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2006 Riesling “Julius” is medium straw-colored with aromas of spring flowers, mineral, citrus, and lemon-lime. Nicely balanced by crisp acidity and ripe fruit flavors, it will drink well for 5-7 years. Drink: 2007 - 2014.
Wine Spectator: Issue: Web Only - 2007. Light and crisp, with refreshing pear and white pepper flavors against juicy lime on the finish. Drink now through 2011.–HS.
Stephen Tanzer: Sep/Oct 07. By Josh Raynolds. Pale yellow. Bright citrus and quince aromas are energized by talc-y minerals, white flowers and an exotic green cardamom quality. Vibrant lime and pink grapefruit flavors display impressive precision and depth, with a riper orange quality building on the close. Strikes a balance of freshness and richness, with outstanding clarity and persistence.
Campbell Mattinson/winefront.com.au, 91pts - "Isn’t this just pretty as a picture? It’s a bit soft and homely on the nose but the palate is like cuddling a baby that’s been doused in talc - though who splashed lime juice all over the little darling is anyone’s guess. The thing is, there’s an easy, rose-like drinkability here despite its breeding and class; it’s refreshing. Yep, it’s a goodun’. Drink: 2006-2010."
Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, 90 pts - "Very fine, fresh limey nose shows good balance. The palate is tight and fresh with good acidity. A bright style that’s dry and quite fresh."
