Clairette Blend

White grape variety grown in Provence, the Rhône and the Languedoc in France. Clairette Blanche has been used to make Vermouth and is sometimes blended with Piquepoul Blanc. It is used in the production of sparkling wine along with Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains which must form a minimum of 75% of the blend. These grapes typically give the wine aromas of stone fruit and peaches accompanied by lashings of honeysuckle. It is one of the thirteen grape varieties permitted in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and also makes Clairette de Bellegarde and Clairette du Languedoc, where it is the sole grape used.
