Wine tasting notes

This wine displays aromas of peach, apricot, nectarine, mandarin and lemon blossom with a subtle sweet French Oak influence. Intense pure stone fruit on the palate with a rich ripe texture and complex nuances. Apricot, nectarine, peach, butterscotch and toffee are balanced with elegant mineral and citrus notes.

Wine Advocate Issue #184 Sep 2009 - Reviewer Neal Martin - The handpicked 2006 Cob Cottage Chardonnay has a well-defined but rather conservative nose with just a hint of French oak. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry, builds beautifully in the mouth towards a crisp nectarine and vanilla tinged finish with superb persistency. This is a great New Zealand Chardonnay that should drink over the next 2-5 years. Auntsfield is one of New Zealand stalwart producers that can trace its roots back the 19th century and they presently farm vineyards in the Wairau Valley. They have an interesting portfolio full of character and occasionally, great quality.

The 2010 Cob Cottage Chardonnay offers pronounced notes of grapefruit, passion fruit and white peach with touches of cedar, mandarin peel and cashews. Medium bodied with a lovely silken texture, it give a great intensity of tropical and stone fruit flavors in the mouth with a balanced suggestion of oak and crisp acid, finishing long and tangy. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2016+.
