Wine tasting notes

A delicate cherry colour with a hint of copper. The mousse is fine and persistent. On the nose, there are aromas of red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, morello cherries) together with nuances of spice. On the palate, this wine is powerful, vinous and is well balanced with a rich and fresh long lasting finish.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (NV)91 pts

Jan 2015. By Josh Raynolds. Bright orange-pink. Fresh strawberry and tangerine on the lively floral nose and in the mouth. Spicy and incisive, with sappy red fruit and rose pastille flavors underscored by juicy acidity and a subtle chalky nuance. A mineral element adds bite to the finish, which hangs on with strong tenacity and repeating floral character. Six percent of the Pinot Noir component in this blend is in the form of still Pinot Noir from vineyards in the Montagne de Reims.

Web Only 2015 - Firm and smoky, with a chalky texture, this balanced rosé shows more mineral character than it does hints of mulberry, dried herb and toasted raisin bread. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (NV)88 pts

Typical of the Ayala style, this is almost bone dry. It has crisp acidity and a light touch on the fresh strawberry and raspberry flavors. Its success also comes from the mineral texture that gives structure to this food-friendly wine.

Vinification Notes

The very high proportion of Chardonnay and the ageing process offer remarkable finesse and elegance to this wine. Rosé Majeur has spent more than two years on its lees in our cellars, and rested for four to six months after disgorgement.
