Wine tasting notes

Intense ruby-red colour. It shows a velvety palette of blackcurrant, black mulberry, tobacco and pepper aromas. A rich and potent taste in the mouth with smooth tannins, warm texture. Long mineral finish with pleasant fruit and mineral touches.

Oct 2015. Reviewer :Monica Larner . The 2015 Chianti Classico Brolio is made with 80% Sangiovese that has been enhanced by 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine ages in barrique and tonneaux for up to nine months. This is a bright and fruit-forward wine that imparts aromas of plump cherry and cassis.

The 2015 Chianti Classico Brolio is a very pretty, gracious wine with lovely fruit purity and terrific balance. Sweet raspberry and floral notes give the wine freshness and aromatic lift. Soft, open-knit and silky, the 2015 has much to offer. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather later. Dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon complement the Sangiovese nicely. (2015)16.5 pts

Concentrated crimson. Deep, spicy cherry nose that is a little dusty at the moment. Tangy cherry fruit palate and still a little embryonic. Big load of tannins on the finish, but there is plenty of fruit. Good future prospects. (WS)

Wine Spectator (2015)90 pts

An elegant, vibrant red, this exhibits floral, cherry and strawberry flavors that mesh nicely with the harmonious profile. The fine length echoes the fruit. Drink now through 2024.

James Suckling (2015)91 pts

A ripe and juicy wine with plum and dried cherry character. Hints of lemon rind. Medium body, delicate tannins and a fruity finish. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (2015)89 pts

Made with 80% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, this has aromas of violet, red-skinned berry and underbrush. The bright palate offers ripe raspberry, red cherry and a sprinkling of white pepper alongside fine-grained tannins.
