Wine tasting notes

This cuvee is distinguished by excellent fruit balance with no single element dominating. It is simultaneously luscious in the mouth, yet clean and refreshing on the finish. Fruit flavours dominate with kiwi, peaches, pineapple and honeysuckle presenting strong palate influence.

April 2017 - Neal Martin - The 2015 Blanc de Mer is a blend of 66% Riesling and 20% Viognier, with the rest Chardonnay that sees no oak contact. It has a light sea spray scented bouquet with light flinty notes developing. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, nicely balanced with a touch of toffee apple on the appealing finish.

May 2017 - Stephen Tanzer - Bright yellow-straw. Tropical fruits and a whiff of sea breeze on the nose, plus a stone fruit element from the Chardonnay that became more dominant with aeration. Flavors of peach, more exotic tropical fruits and spices are perked up by some unabsorbed CO2. Plenty of sweet, ripe fruit and a touch of salinity in a rather dry (3.5 g/l r.s.) package. Very easy to like. (2010)15.5 pts

Tasted Feb 2011 - Very very perfumed and aromatic, mandarin blossom. A fruit-salad mouthful. Clean-cut acidity, with some weight but still fairly primary at the moment. (TC)

On the plump side, with pineapple, ginger and yellow apple fruit flavors melded together, backed by a hint of toasted shortbread on the finish. Tasty, just not very Riesling-like. Riesling, Viognier, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. D

A very fresh white with fennel, dried lemon and hints of gun metal. Medium body, fresh acidity and a crisp finish. Fruity and bright. 65% riesling, 19% viognier, 9% chardonnay, 4% semillon and 3% sauvignon.

White melon rind and key lime citrus abound in the bouquet of this intricate white blend made from 40% Rhine Riesling, 33% Viognier, 13% Sauvignon Blanc, 11% Chenin Blanc and 3% Chardonnay. The mouth is ripe and full of tropical fruit flavors, with sweet but zippy pineapple acidity lingering after swallow. — L.B. (3/1/2012)
