Wine tasting notes

Golden in colour, this wine has a layered bouquet, reminiscent of vanilla, butterscotch, almonds and nuts. Aromas of mimosa and ripe Golden Delicious apples continue on the complex palate, which has a fresh finish. There is also a mineral edge to the ripe, round flavours of wildflower honey.

Winery Information

Ampelio Bucci has 26 hectares of vineyard on his 400 hectare estate, which is cultivated organically. Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2010)90 pts

Feb 2013 - The 2010 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is a standout. Hints of pear, apples, and white-fleshed fruit are woven together in this vibrant, beautifully focused wine. All the elements are in the right place. The 2010 Verdicchio is a fabulous effort from Bucci, and one of the very finest values in Italian wine. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016.

July 2015 - Gold-tinged straw. Aromas of apple, anise, minerals an almond jump from the glass. Bright, dense and juicy, offering an archetypal Verdicchio set of flavors (marzipan and orchard fruits) of sneaky concentration and creaminess. The finish is long and suave.-- Ian D'Agata (2014)16.5 pts

Sept 2015 - Citrus and green fruit with a strong, attractive mineral quality. Beautifully precise and alive, with bright acidity and stony pure fruit to balance. Streamlined but in no way thin. Creamy aftertaste. Pure and long. (JH)

Oct 2015 - A dense and exotic white with cooked apple, peach and hints of honey on the nose and palate. Full body, lots of fruit and a long and flavorful finish. Drink now.

This classic bottling opens with enticing floral aromas of Spanish broom, acacia and a whiff of flint. The palate delivers succulent yellow peach, citrus and almond along with mineral notes. It boasts impeccable balance and nice length.

Vinification Notes

Vinification takes place in the underground winery, which is naturally cool so refrigeration is generally not necessary. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and Slovenian oak barrels of between 50 and 75 hectolitres, that are approximately 70 years old. Different vineyard parcels are vinified separately then carefully blended before bottling.
