Cantine Pellegrino

CANTINE PELLEGRINO
Values handed down from father to son for seven generations!

It all began in 1880 when Paolo Pellegrino, a passionate wine grower, founded what was destined to become, over 135 years later, one of the most important wineries in Sicily. Today, after seven generations, Cantine Pellegrino represents the tradition and experience this long family history, made up of respect, care, love and dedication of values handed down from father to son, have enabled. They have acquired a deep knowledge of their land and the methods of cultivating their vines and vinifying their grapes. They are specialists in indigenous Sicilian varieties, but also making some outstanding wines from international grapes.
The Pellegrino vineyards are located in the westernmost part of Sicily, which is characterised by a great variety of microclimates. The territory boasts the highest vine-covered area in Italy where the intense light, dry climate, fresh soils, winds coming from the south and the strong atmospheric temperature range create the ideal conditions for the production of quality wines.
The grapes are grown on four estates each with a specific calling, and all run using organic farming methods. Lush Kelbi is ideal for growing Catarratto. Syrah grows vigorously at harsh and desert-like Rinzazzo. Grillo vineyards are planted along the coast enjoying the fresh sea breezes at Salinaro and the windy plateau at Gazzerotta is ideal for the cultivation of Nero d’Avola and an ancient Grillo vine which has put down deep roots, and makes wines expressing the highest quality levels.
Pellegrino additionally operate three different wineries: Cardilla for wines, Pantelleria for moscato and passito and Marsala for the homonymous wine and fortified wines.
Pellegrino produce 11 ranges in all – offering the widest variety of Sicilian wines on the island - so something to suite every palate and every pocket!
