Chateau de Campuget

Chateau de Campuget has a long history; the château was built in 1753, and it was then that the first vines were planted. Fast forward to 1942 when the Dalle family acquired the estate, which continues to be family run today, headed up by third generation Frank-Lin Dalle who is the winemaker. The estate is located in the town of Manduel, in the heart of Costières de Nimes, the most eastern appellation in the Languedoc. In this sunny Mediterranean climate the vineyards, which are on average 25 years old, are planted with a range of Rhône varietals, but mainly Grenache Noir and Syrah for the red and rosé wines, and Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne for the whites, on “galet roules” soils, where large pebbles have been smoothed over centuries by glacial and fluvial action and deposited by the Rhône River. In fact, this part of the Languedoc is effectively part of the Rhône; the soils and topography are analogous to the southern Côte-du-Rhône vineyards just over the river. This top quality estate has respect for tradition whilst utilizing modern winemaking techniques, and produces wines with a remarkable expression of terroir, fresh white wines with aromatic purity, elegant dry and fragrant rosés, and fruity spicy reds.
