Chateau du Vieux Parc

Château du Vieux Parc has been in the Mialhe and Panis families for six generations. It is located in the village of Conilhac-Corbières, between Carcassonne and Narbonne in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. It had been an estate whose grapes had been used for the production of bulk wines, but in the 1960's Guy Panis decided to change course and began to make quality wines that he bottled himself. The estate is now owned by Guy's son Louis and grandson Guillaume, who is the winemaker. Corbières is dived into 11 different terroirs, and Château du Vieux Parc is on the Terroir of Lézignan. There are 40 hectares of AOP, and 30 hectares of Vin de Pays vines, which are farmed sustainably with Vitéalys-Agriculture Raisonnée certification since 2008. This dry and sunny Mediterranean climate, cooled by the Cers wind, is perfect for ripening the grapes of which they grow a huge variety: the red Carignan, Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Marselan, and the white Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Vermentino, Viognier and Muscat Sec, on clay and limestone slopes and stony terraces. The wines are well-structured and fruit-driven, showcasing the diversity of the wild and beautiful Corbières region.
