Wine tasting notes

The Cillar de Silos Crianza is the backbone of the winery as it reflects the character of the Tempranillo variety in Quintana del Pidio. Sourced from different terroirs of small plots, some of which are tiny with very old vines. The wine is a dark cherry red with violet hues. An elegant yet mature nose with black and acidic red fruits (raspberries and ripe fruits of the forest), sweet spices (nutmeg, clove and vanilla), cedar and light roasted wood aromas intertwined with liquorice. On the palate, it is fleshy, silky with a well structured balance. A refreshing acidity gives the wine a long length with mature tannins, which in time will become smoother. A long lingering wine with matching flavours and aromas which come together with a perfect finess

Expert Reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014)92 pts

The faintly reductive 2014 Crianza needed some time to start expressing that combination of flowers, herbs and berry fruit, with the nicely integrated oak it has. The palate is sleek and elegant, quite silky, medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a soft texture and good acidity. This is a great Crianza. 120,000 bottles produced.

This lean, fresh red is harmonious, with light smoky and gamy notes framing black cherry and plum fruit, supported by fine, firm tannins and crisp acidity.

James Suckling (2014)92 pts

A very attractive and rich crianza with berry, chocolate and dark fruits that follow through to a long and flavorful finish. Layered and delicious. Drink now.
