Wine tasting notes

Lifted aromas of cedar combine seamlessly with black pepper spice and subtle cloves, blue fruits, young berries and Damson plums to create a soft juicy palate. Lovely textural tannins produce an elegant cool climate Shiraz.

Expert reviews

JancisRobinson.com (2016) - 16.5 pts

Some vines planted as recently as 2006. Transparent purplish crimson. Discreet but quite sophisticated nose. Very neat, very Syrah, with fine tannins and mouth-filling. Great, simple, confident wine that should please Northern Rhône fans. Dry, fresh finish. Lasts quite a long time for a relatively inexpensive wine.

James Suckling (2018) - 92 pts

Very expressive, summer-berry aromas make a bright impression, with spicy complexity also in the mix. The palate has a supple and sleek feel with fine-grained tannins carrying red-toned berry flavors. Some cocoa to close.

James Halliday (2015) - 95 pts

Bright, full crimson-purple; the variety and the terroir seek to impose each one's stamp over the other, both failing in their attempt, the perfect win-win outcome. Blackberry fruit, spice and black pepper lead the way on the bouquet and medium-bodied palate alike, French oak (subtle) and tannins (ripe, but fine) completing a great portrait of cool-grown shiraz.
