Wine tasting notes

This Chardonnay has fresh pear and lemon notes that combine with delicate white flowers. Lovely soft aromas of poached apple and marzipan evolve in the glass. Crisp, fresh and dry on the palate, the wine is tightly sprung then unwinds to reveal a citrus pith texture, wrapped around a fresh stone-fruit core.

Aug 2013 Reviewer : Lisa Perrotti-Brown. With a pleasantly scented nose of white peaches and orange blossoms highlighted by hints of lemon zest, lightly browned toast and baked cashews, the 2012 Chardonnay is medium-bodied wine offering a good amount of flavor intensity, a lively acid line and a medium to long finish.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2011) - 88 pts

Jul 2012 - Light yellow. Pear, nectarine and agave on the pungent, spice-accented nose. Juicy and taut on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering bitter pear skin and quinine flavors with energy and lift. Closes with firm cut, grip and lingering spiciness. Only 40% of this wine went through malo. -- Josh Raynolds

JancisRobinson.com (2014) - 16 pts

Tasted Jan 2016 - Smoky, ripe and fun on the nose. Some breadth but masses of refreshing acidity too. Lovely satin texture and some length. A cunning wine that could convince you it was worth £10 more. Until a very slightly messy finish. GV. (JR)

Wine Spectator (2011) - 89 pts

June '12 Bright and zingy, with lemony pear and floral flavors that linger on the lively finish. Drink now

James Halliday (2016) - 93 pts

Whole bunch-pressed, free-run and pressings separately wild-fermented and matured in new and used French oak. Cool in every way: attitude, flavour, length and freshness. White peach, nectarine and citrussy acidity. The oak isn't obvious, but the length is.

Wine Front (2012) - 89 pts

Reliable ‘go to’ wine in most years. Punchy, sunny fruit flavours with a dry, slatey finish. Refreshingly modern and yet there’s no sacrifice of flavour. Green melon, pear, citrus and grapefruit. Walks the talk pretty well. Can’t go wrong here.
