Wine tasting notes

This bright salmon-coloured wine displays a nose of Morello cherries mingled with strawberries and floral roses, with notes of kirsch on the balanced palate. Elegant summer drinking in a glass.

Expert reviews

JancisRobinson.com (2019) - 16.5 pts

It smells pretty ordinary, that decent-quality-rosé smell that is hard to define and hard to get excited about. The acidity, on the other hand, is firm and defined and has a muscular quality that I can't help but lean into, wanting more. It's dry. The fruit is a casual sketch in watercolours and rust, the structure holds the wine in its shape and length. Refreshing, lean but tempting, thirst-quenching. More than 'decent' quality, although a snifter short of very exciting. I wonder how it would stand up in a blind tasting with the £20 English rosés and higher-priced Provence pinks... (TC)

Decanter (2019) - 89 pts

Tasted by Amy Wislocki(at New Malden, Surrey, 23 Jun 2020) Part of Best rosé wines: 15 under £20 to try today The Mellot family owns vineyards across the Loire, and have been involved in winemaking for five centuries. Made from 20-year-old Pinot Noir vines grown on clay-limestone soils, this Sancerre rosé is packed with cherry and strawberry fruit, fresh and balanced with good acidity. Would be delicious served with charcuterie or tapas.
