Wine tasting notes

Our Marsannay is sturdy and robust due to the rich iron-based soil. The wine has an intense bouquet of red fruit and a silky palate with a distinct gamey character and great tannic appeal.

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2006) - 86 pts

Wine Advocate # 180. Dec 2008. Reviewer : David Schildknecht. Also recommended, but no tasting note given.

JancisRobinson.com (2007) - 15.5 pts

Tasted March 2010 - New product. 20% aged in oak barrels. Light and earthy. Looks a bit rusty. First sweet, then sour and overall light but not too tarted up..

Wine Spectator (2015) - 90 pts

Smoky cherry flavors and a sweet smell of burning vine cuttings mark this slim red. Juicy, firm and balanced, with a lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2024

James Suckling (2016) - 91 pts

Quite a fresh and lively style for Marsannay. This nonetheless has quite a firm tannic core. Long, clean finish with some earthy complexity. Drink or hold.

Wine Enthusiast (2015) - 88 pts

This is ripe and fruity with attractive red-fruit flavors and a touch of tannins to keep it all in place. The wine is soft with just a layer of tannin and plenty of red cherries at the end.
