Wine tasting notes

A youthful and appealing wine, garnet red in colour and quite intense on the nose with vibrant red fruit, cherries and herbal characters. On the palate it has bright fruity notes of strawberry and morello cherry, with subtle vanilla characters from the oak-aged portion. The wine is well-balanced and medium-bodied with structured, firm tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish.

Expert reviews

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2015) - 88 pts

Aug 2016 - Bright dark red. Fresh aromas and flavors of raspberry, red licorice, graphite, plus a hint of menthol. In a rather soft, approachable style, with attractive red berries supported by firm but pliant tannins. Finishes medium-long and very bright, showcasing a fruit-forward personality and immediate accessibility. -- Ian D'Agata

JancisRobinson.com (2013) - 16 pts

Tasted July 2015 - Mid cherry red. Spicy aroma with peppery cherry fruit and a light vanilla sweetness. You can definitely taste the sweetness but the most dramatic impression is the super-silky texture. Gentle, rounded and caressing with just a touch of sweetness on the finish. It doesn’t lack freshness but that seems to come as much from the clear fruit flavours as from acidity since the acidity is balanced by the fruit sweetness on the finish. Intense fruit flavours on the long finish. (JH)

Wine Spectator (2013) - 86 pts

April 2015 - Well-oaked and medium-bodied, with a plush mouthfeel to the flavors of plump cherry, chocolate shavings, wood smoke and spice. Drink now through 2018.

James Suckling (2012) - 91 pts

This is rich, round and decadent with bright berry, vanilla and dark chocolate character. Full body, lots of fruit and a rich finish. Drink or hold.

Wine Enthusiast (2011) - 86 pts

Toasted almond, wild berry, plump cherry and wild raspberry open the nose on this Sangiovese, which has the varietal's characteristic freshness as well.
