Wine tasting notes

Vibrant cherry tempered by wild herb and smoky aromas. Lingering plum tomato and spice on the palate. A medium bodied wine, showing firm structure balanced by fresh fruit on the finish.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2009) - 89 pts

eRobertParker.com #2046 Dec 2012 - Neal Martin - The 2009 Mourvedre has an attractive bouquet of mulberry, yellow plum and a distinct scent of mussel shells! The palate is soft and rounded on the entry. It has very plush, supple tannins with a rounded cassis and dark plum finish that needs a little more complexity. Still, it has a sensual texture that is very alluring. Drink now-2016.

JancisRobinson.com (2009) - 16 pts

Tasted Sept 2012 - Sweet spice. Comparatively light body, despite the concentrated and ripe fruit. Supple tannin. Bit of coffee and smoke to finish, in the Cape tradition. (RH)

Wine Spectator (2011) - 88 pts

Web Only 2014 - This is focused, with lightly sinewy tannins weaving in and around a core of cherry paste, plum skin and singed anise. Shaved vanilla bean and mesquite accents echo through the finish. Shows good varietal character.

Wine Enthusiast (2008) - 88 pts

Balanced and approachable now with an easy structure and moderate tannins, this Shiraz offers black cherry, fig, boysenberry and brambly fruit flavors all lifted by spicy notes of pepper and nutmeg. Ready to go now. — L.B. (3/1/2012)
