Wine tasting notes

Notes of mint, bay leaf, cocoa powder, blackberries, ripe raspberries and black cherry are complemented by the signature kiss of Limousin oak for a subtle baking spice and Madagascar vanilla lift.

Food matching

This is a real treat of a wine, and, though it can stand up to robust stew and game, perhaps the best way to offset its glory and enjoy it is with a roast of the finest beef or lamb joint you can find. It is also a classic partner for sharp cheddar. Avoid cream sauces and anything too spicy or salty.

Expert reviews

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013) - 93 pts

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a powerful wine. Beguiling aromatics make a strong opening statement. Pine, rosemary, mint, sweet red cherry, pomegranate and a touch of new oak give the wine its bright, lifted feel. Even with considerable air, and also taking into account the personality of the year, the 2013 Martha's remains closed down and not at all expressive. My impression is that this could have been a materially better wine - Antonio Galloni

James Suckling (2013) - 95 pts

The blackcurrants and blackberries with lavender and rosemary really pop out of the glass. Full body, tight and polished tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Shows tension and focus with a precise finish. Very finely textured. A classical wine. From organically grown grapes. Try in 2021 and onwards.
