Wine tasting notes

The nose is quite uncommon with aromas of guava, milk thistle and a hint of burnt sugar. The palate continues the eccentric ride with an overriding peppery character, medium acidity and a very dry and chalky finish. The most obvious feature about Oggi is that it lacks fruit and is instead more vegetal and spicy. Oggi is certainly a wine for the adventurous drinker.

Tasted May 2016 - Their experimental label. This is a blend of Fiano, Arneis and Vermentino, skin fermented. Rollo Crittenden explained that with higher solids, the ferment is faster, resulting in more sulphides. Aromatic Fiano aroma. Spiced pear and quince and tangy green fruit. Aromatic on the palate, too, but with a savoury/sour quality with the lees depth and light texture. Very long. Both aromatic and structured. (JH)

Two weeks on skins makes for a fabulously spicy, firm Friuliano, Savagnin and Arneis blend with a luminous, vivid core of crunchily bright pear and quince fruit.
