Winery Information

One of the undisputed kings of Australian Shiraz and Rhone varietals, d'Arenberg has managed to turn individuality into an art form by doing a whole lot of little things differently. The original vineyards were established by Joseph Osborn in 1912 in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. Aug 2017 - Reviewer : Lisa Perrotti-Brown .The 2016 The Stump Jump Riesling / Sauvignon Blanc / Marsanne / Roussanne has pleasant baking spice and honeysuckle scents over a core of honeydew melons and warm pears. Light to medium-bodied, the palate has a rasping backbone of acidity with a pleasant satiny texture and a long, spicy finish.

Very pale yellow. Fresh orange, white peach and honeydew melon on the nose. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering subtly sweet orchard fruit and melon flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. Closes smooth and broad, leaving a hint of bitter peach pit behind.

Web Only 2017 - Fragrant and juicy, with spicy rose petal, wild strawberry and peach flavors on a medium body. Offers a vibrant, refreshing finish. Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne.

Wine Enthusiast (2015)85 pts

This is an interesting blend—the proportions are 46% Riesling, 34% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Marsanne. Passion fruit and white currants notes dominate, with hints of tomato stalk. It does taste slightly off dry, fading quickly on the finish.

Vinification Notes

The grapes are gently crushed before being pressed in stainless steel basket presses. The juice is then transferred to temperature controlled tanks where it is inoculated with yeast, starting the fermentation process. Once fermentation is complete samples from each batch are taken to the tasting bench (more of a table really) where the winemakers decide on the final blend of The Stump Jump White. The wine is bottled on site.
