D'Arenberg

D'Arenberg

D’Arenberg was established in 1912 by Joseph Osborn in South Australia’s McLaren Vale. They are one of Australia’s oldest family owned wineries, and today, 4th generation family member Chester Osborn is the great grandson of the founder, He makes distinctive wines using traditional methods both in the vineyard and in the winery. All their estate owned and leased vineyards are NASAA Certified for organic and biodynamic processes. d’Arenberg is one of the only wineries in Australia to basket press both their white wines as well as reds, which makes for a labour intensive process. In fact, from entry level to iconic, all d’Arenberg wines have been basket pressed, with all red ferments foot trod during fermentation. All parcels remain separate until the final blending, and the wines do not undertake fining or filtration prior to bottling. They specialise n Rhône valley style wines. Their white wines are varietally expressive, with lifted aromas and delicate bouquets. These are full flavoured, elegant and balanced, with bright, fresh acidity giving way to a long, lingering finish. Their reds are sophisticated, full of fragrant fruit and mineral notes with excellent palate texture, free of excess oak, with long, lively, and youthful tannins, melding seamlessly with a complex spicy and earthy body. D'Arenberg are well-known for the quirky names of their wines; the quality and personality of each wine shines through, and you are bound to find something that will captivate you from d’Arenberg’s extensive range – they are an icon of the McLaren vale.
