Wine tasting notes

Deep red-ruby. Fruit-driven aromas of cassis, redcurrant, smoke, spice and animal fur. Soft, lush and ripe, with enticing fruit and good balance. Easy going, generous and balanced for early drinking appeal.

Domaine de la Janasse

D. de la Janasse, thanks to the great talents of winemaker Christophe Sabon, has become one of the finest estates in the Rh?ne. Whilst the D. has built its reputation on the quality of its Ch.neuf-du-Papes and C?tes du Rh?ne reds, Christophe?s white and red IGP Pays merit similar accolades. Oct 2015. Reviewer : Jeb Dunnock - A great wine - from a difficult vintage - that shows the talent and hard work of this brother/sister pair, the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape reveals a healthy ruby/purple color to go with perfumed notes of black and red raspberry, pepper, licorice and violets. Medium plus in body and elegant, with gorgeous purity and fine tannin, drink this terrific 2013 over the coming 8-10 years.

Jan/Feb 15. By Josh Raynolds. Vivid ruby. Deep-pitched red and blue fruit scents are complicated by hints of pungent flowers, peppery spices and cola. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet boysenberry and black raspberry flavors and a touch of white pepper that adds back-end spiciness. Tightens up slowly on the gently tannic finish, which clings with outstanding persistence and resonating spiciness.

Tasted Nov 2013 - Lustrous, burnished crimson with layers of interest. Firm and refreshing with lots of fruit and no overdone tannins. Very confident and impressive. Grabs the attention and is impressively persistent. Very clean, neat finish.

A beautiful dark cassis aroma leads the way, backed by a serious, youthfully raw core of blackberry, plum and raspberry sauce flavors. Lots of sweet spice notes fill in the background, while a long, violet-edged finish lets everything play out nicely. Best from 2017 through 2025.

Vinification Notes
