Wine tasting notes

Attractive black plum in colour. The nose offers gobs of jammy black fruits intermixed with a delicious spiciness. The body is equally full, vibrant and concentrated. A well structured, well made wine all round.

Winery Information

Domaine de la Janasse

D. de la Janasse, thanks to the great talents of winemaker Christophe Sabon, has become one of the finest estates in the Rh?ne. Whilst the D. has built its reputation on the quality of its Ch.neuf-du-Papes and C?tes du Rh?ne reds, Christophe?s white and red IGP Pays merit similar accolades. Oct 2017. Reviewer : Jeb Dunnock - Bottled just two weeks before I tasted it, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone was singing nonetheless. Mainly Grenache, it shows great cherry fruit, ample weight, silky tannins and just a hint of chocolate on the finish. Already delicious, it should drink well over the next 5 or 6 years.

May 16 -By Josh Raynolds - Youthful violet. Expansive red fruit and floral aromas are complicated by hints of garrigue and white pepper. Fleshy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors become more tangy with aeration and pick up a subtle floral nuance. Finishes sweet and supple, offering echoes of spiciness and smooth tannins. Tasted Feb 2015 - Bright and ripe fruit. Spicy, perfumed nose and loads of savoury fruit on the finish. Top quality stuff - really expressive at a very reasonable price. (RH)

Direct, with a ball of cherry paste and cassis backed by light flashes of blood orange and cedar on the finish.

James Suckling (2015)90 pts

A sultry array of red berry fruits and darker stony minerally accents. This has extremely pure fruit focused style and a swathe of fruit-soaked tannins. Great balance. Drink now.
