Wine tasting notes

Thoroughly stylish Gevrey, generous and open-knit. Mouth-filling, smooth but precise flavours of plum, damson and forest berry. Juicy and caressing. Lots of character and clarity of flavour with a seductive cashmere texture

Wine Advocate # 194. May 2011 - The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin is a pretty, sleek wine layered with elegant fruit and vibrant perfume. This shows lovely focus and energy, not to mention terrific overall balance. I would not be surprised to see this merit a higher score with further bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.

Mar/Apr 13. By Stephen Tanzer. Medium red. Wild, expressive aromas of raspberry, strawberry, smoke and underbrush. Sweet, supple and rich but youthfully backward. Builds impressively toward the back end, showing strong saline minerality and a serious acid/tannin spine. This shows more focus in bottle than it did from barrel a year ago. I'd give it a couple years in the cellar before pulling the cork. (2009)17.5 pts

Tasted Sept 2013 - Bright crimson. Very solid and pure – textbook Gevrey. Super pure. They have 'quite good stocks'. Very pure but dense.

June 15, 2013 - A rich, polished style, featuring cherry, black currant, spice and tobacco flavors backed by dense tannins. Broad and muscular for the vintage, staying fresh and finishing long. Best from 2016 through 2028.

Here the fresh nose is moderately deeply pitched with humus, earth and underbrush notes adding breadth to the cool dark berry fruit aromas. There is fine volume and precision to the textured medium-bodied flavors that are quite tightly wound on the linear finish.
