Wine tasting notes

The wine shows great balance between weight and freshness, with elegance derived from seamless minerality. Layers of subtle fruit notes combine stone fruits, acacia flowers and spiced hazelnut butter. The finish is long, intense and spicy. A wine whose balance permits it to age gracefully.

Situated in the heart of Fuisse, Domaine Ferret has long been a producer of top Pouilly-Fuisse cuv?es. The estate was managed by the Ferret family from its founding in 1840 until it was purchased by Louis Jadot in 2008.The Pouilly-Fuisse vineyards lie on a narrow band of land in southern Burgundy. Since the creation of the appellation in 1936, only wines from the villages of Chaintre, Fuisse, Solutre-Pouilly and Vergisson are authorized to bear the Pouilly-Fuisse name. eRobertParker.com #208 Aug 2013 - Neal Martin - The 2010 Pouilly-Fuisse Sous Vergisson comes exclusively from the lieu-dit courtesy of 40-year-old vines and is aged one-third in used oak. Tasted from a sample sent to my home, it has a well-defined, fragrant bouquet with subtle notes of apple peel, mango and a touch of melted candle wax that together gain intensity in the glass. The palate is nicely balanced, perhaps just a little fatter than the 2011 at the moment, but retaining crisp Cornice pear and citrus peel notes toward the finish. This is a very fine Pouilly-Fuisse, though I wager that the following vintage will turn out the better in the long-term. Drink now-2017.Domaine J.A. Ferret was founded in 1850 and passed through a female line of succession that had the nous to bottle themselves, long before the practice became common. Beaune-based Louis Jadot acquired Ferret in 2008 following the passing of Colette Ferret without heir. Audrey Braccini is the present winemaker and she is doing an excellent job because some of these wines are equal to Jadot-s Premier and even Grand Crus.

Issue Sept 30, 2011 - Tightly wound, exhibiting lemon, apple and spice flavors, with a mineral underpinning and excellent length. This is linear in profile and has plenty of reserve. Best from 2013 through 2020.

A little Jack Daniels note, nutty, with nice dry fruit and a touch of earthiness. Spices and honey delicate in the background. The palate has a tight juiciness, a lovely rounded fruit clarity, but finishing tight and juicy.
