Winery Information

Domaine Montrose

The estate is named after its location with vines planted on the sides of two volcanoes – Montrose and Montredon, and also for the rose coloured blossom of the almond trees bordering the property. The Domaine is run by father and son Bernard and Oliver Coste, and the family have been winemakers for more than 300 years. Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2018)90 pts

The 2018 IGP Cotes de Thongue Rose 1701 is pale in hue, but don't let that deceive you; this is a fairly weighty rosé, with a touch of oak influence. A blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Roussanne, the fruit is melon-y and subdued, with just enough citrus to balance out in the end.

Vinification Notes

Each grape variety and each terroir are vinified separately. Grapes are harvested at night to preserve freshness. They are destemmed before a short skin contact or a direct pressing. Fermentation temperature is maintained between 15°C to 18°C (59° F to 64°F) to retain fruits aromas. Wines resulting for the different terroirs and grapes varieties are blended after fermentation and then aged in stainless steel vats. Wine is bottled during winter and spring.
