About Elgin Ridge

Nestled in the picturesque valleys of South Africa's Western Cape, Elgin Ridge is a biodynamic winery offering premium wines with a difference. Embracing organic farming methods, Elgin Ridge is committed to producing wines that are entirely natural, providing an experience that captures the pure essence of the vineyard.

The winery itself sits on a pristine plot of 282 hectares, blessed with fertile soil and a beautiful, celebrity view of the sprawling vineyards. Originally an apple orchard, this little piece of heaven was transformed into a vineyard by the ambitious owners, Marion and Brian Smith, back in 2007.

The wines produced by Elgin Ridge - mainly Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay – are as intoxicating as the landscape itself. Each sip takes your taste buds on a journey, unravelling the vineyard's unique story with depth and complexity.

At Elgin Ridge, the word 'organic' is not simply a trendy buzzword, but a way of life - embraced whole-heartedly. There are no artificial pesticides or fertilisers used on these vineyards'! Instead, specially trained ducks help to maintain the health of the vines, while wildflowers provide a natural habitat for beneficial insects.

Visitors to the winery are treated to more than just wines — they are offered a holistic experience that includes exquisite cuisine at the onsite restaurant. The meals, like the wines, are created with the freshest organic ingredients — many of which are grown onsite.

Elgin Ridge is a special place, where the love and respect for nature translate directly into the pure, delicious wine. It's an unmissable destination for wine lovers in search of a unique and memorable experience.
