Product Notes

Emanating grace and sophistication, the Glenelly Estate Reserve Red Blend is an exquisite South African wine. It's a vibrant melange of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah. This splendid blend proudly boasts dominant gratifying flavours of crystalline blackberries and ripe plums, layered with subtle smoky undertones of French oak. The structured tannins create an elegant depth and complexity, continuing into a long lasting, lingering finish. This wine surges with sumptuous character, showcasing the exceptional terroir of Glenelly Estate. A captivating addition to any wine connoisseur's collection, it pairs splendidly robust dishes such as aged steak or matured cheese.

Tasting Notes

The 2013 vintage is all about elegance with underlying power. Bold aromas of blackberries, cranberry and blackcurrant are followed by hints of savoury, spicy plum with touches of cedar and floral tones. The palate entry has good richness with fine tannin supported by the ripe fresh fruit and hints of spice. Very balanced oak integration with a fresh long finish

About the Winery

Glenelly

Nestled in the idyllic landscape of Stellenbosch, South Africa, Glenelly winery is an exquisite blend of traditional wine craftsmanship and modern wine-making philosophy. Founded in 2003 by the indomitable 78-year-old Madame May-Eliane de Lencquesaing of the Bordeaux family, the winery blends harmoniously the French heritage and South African terroir.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Simonsberg Mountain, Glenelly winery is a treasure trove of award-winning wines, stunning scenery and profound tranquillity that is a sight to behold. The estate covers a vast area of 123 hectares, with the vineyards encompassing various slopes and altitudes that enhance the complexity and taste of the grapes harvested here. The Ingénue, Lady May and Glenelly glasses collection are amongst the popular award-winning wines produced at this facility.

The effusion of Glenelly's wine tradition is not confined to the vineyards alone. It extends to the Glass Museum, an exclusive display of the history of glass over the last 5000 years. The winery also houses a state-of-the-art tasting room & restaurant, known as The Vine Bistro. Its offer of classic French cuisine with a local twist resonates well with the traditional-meets-modern aesthetic of Glenelly.

In tandem with their emphasis on quality and heritage, Glenelly adheres to responsible and sustainable practices. The estate is a member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI), aimed at encouraging wineries to cultivate indigenous habitat in their vineyards. Furthermore, they also follow environmentally friendly farming practices ensuring the best quality produce with minimal impact on the environment.

Ultimately, a visit to Glenelly winery is not just a wine tasting venture; it's an experience of refined viticulture, cultural history and culinary delight, all nestled amidst the vibrancy and charm of Stellenbosch. What's more, the perfect setting offers panoramic views of Table Mountain in the distance, creating an experience that is delightfully overwhelming: this is Glenelly, where wine-making meets panoramas in perfect harmony.
