Wine tasting notes

This cuvée has a bright and golden colour. The nose is dominated by the freshness and the fruit. The Chardonnay brings finesse sustained by notes of yellow fruits such as peach and Mirabelle plum. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and generous. The Pinot Noir of Ay gives its structure. Hawthorn and white flowers merge naturally. Acidity is expressed by citrus fruits. Dosage is light (8 g/l).

Nov 2011 - The NV Brut Grande Reserve opens with a bouquet of chalk, slate and wet stones. It is a beautifully pointed, energetic wine endowed with gorgeous drive from start to finish. Red berries, dried flowers and mint are some of the nuances that inform the finish.

Jan 2015 - Pale gold. Expansive, mineral-driven citrus and orchard fruit scents are complemented by anise, honey and buttered toast, along with a hint of peach pit. Packs a solid punch but comes off lithe and precise, with mineral-laced blood orange and quince flavors and a deeper suggestion of fresh fig. Closes on a spicy note, with repeating minerality and very good persistence.-- Josh Raynolds

Tasted Oct 2016 - Chardonnay-based blend. Very slightly woody/cedary nose, almost a touch of dried flowers with a hint of bread. Refined and brilliantly fresh on the palate with sufficient dosage to bring harmony. Long and finely textured. (JH)

Nov 2015 - Rich and toasty, with honey and roasted almond notes layered with flavors of baked peach, orange blossom, brioche and pastry cream. A harmonious Champagne, featuring a refined mousse and bright acidity. Drink now through 2020

July 2015 - A fragrant nose with plenty of bright red florals on offer. Rose-like, musky and perfumed, this has a wealth of freshness and very subtle biscuit-like complexity. The palate's assertive and fully formed, really expands as it moves, delivering bright red berry and ripe peach and nectarine flavors. There's a little spicy twist through the finish. An expressive style made to drink now.

March 2014 - Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with a little Pinot Meunier in this multi-vintage blend - which sometimes also has a proportion of the rarer Champagne grapes Fromenteau, Arbanne and Petit Meslier too. There's 8g/l dosage. Rich, nutty stuff with bruised pear and apple nutty oxidation in this cuvée . The palate has that vinous, super-charged character, but retains a slippery freshness and lovely crisp, dry apple acidity against that nuttiness. The relatively high proportion of Reserve wines used by Gosset give this lovely developed complexity from the word go
