Gran Sasso

Gran Sasso is a brand produced by Valentino Sciotti and his team. Sciotti is one of the founders of Farnese, Italy's biggest boutique winery, established in 1994 in the town of Ortona in the region of Abruzzo on Italy's central east coast. It is owned by the Fantini group. For the Gran Sasso range he is advised by Tuscan-born winemaker Alberto Antonini, one of the most influential wine consultants in Italy, and his winemaker is Marco Flacco who has had around 20 years of experience working for, and consulting for wineries in Abruzzo. The brand is named after the Gran Sasso d'Italia, part of the Apennine Mountain Range, and is one of the highest peaks in the region. The team work closely with local growers to produce this easy-drinking range of wines made from Native Abruzzo grape varieties, featuring a fruit-driven Montepulciano and tangy a Pecorino.
