Wine tasting notes

Bright ruby-red with garnet highlights. Highly fragrant nose offering dark cherries, blackcurrants and plums bathed in spice. The spicy dark fruits follow through on the full-bodied palate, dense and rich, with hints of licorice and balsamic. Concludes with sweet soft tannins and a long persistent finish. A bold and fruit-filled wine.

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2015) - 93 pts

The 2015 Taurasi exudes a baroque opulence, with generous layers of tobacco, black cherry and chocolate. The acidity and minerality help to streamline the mouthfeel just a bit, but this remains a large-scale, full-bodied red nevertheless. This wine will be released at the end of this year. I could see a pairing with agnolotti stuffed with roasted meat. The warm and sunny 2015 vintage was especially kind to the Aglianico grape.

James Suckling (2015) - 93 pts

A meaty, enticing Taurasi that shows dried cloves, black pepper, berries, tobacco and spices. The full-bodied palate portrays a fascinating juxtaposition between driven, steely acidity and ripe dark fruit, with tea-bag character in the mix, too. Drink from 2021.
