Wine tasting notes

Intense bright rubi red color. The aromas are clearly frutal and spiced, giving a first impression of plums, raspberry, cherry and a floral note with fresh pepper. Afterwards, it gives space for toffee accompanied by vanilla and a smoked scent. In mouth, it has a medium to high acidity, round tannins and very frutal feeling. It´s an elegant wine with an intense body, fresh and long mouthfeel.

Food matching

This wine can easily be paired with a seared porterhouse or stewed angus alongside assorted vegetable and cheeses

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014) - 89 pts

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Antiguas Reservas is mostly from 20-year-old vines from Buin and a small part from Macul. It matured in second use French barriques for 12 months. It's marginally more concentrated and complex than the Don Matías, with some tannins and a touch of oak.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013) - 89 pts

Ruby-red. Ripe red berries, cherry and dried rose aromas are complicated by a hint of musky underbrush. Supple, gently sweet and nicely focused on the palate, offering fresh redcurrant and cherry flavors and a touch of cracked pepper. Finishes with good focus and thrust and smooth, easygoing tannins.

Wine Spectator (2015) - 88 pts

Roasted red fruit flavors feature plenty of smoky notes in this ripe, powerful style. The dense finish shows espresso details. Drink now through 2020.

James Suckling (2013) - 91 pts

A savory red with plum and cherry character, medium body, fine tannins and a juicy finish. Delicate style.

Wine Enthusiast (2015) - 88 pts

Savory berry and plum aromas lead to a chunky palate that's more soft and thick than firm and structured. Dark berry and peppery spice flavors lead to a jammy finish with blackened flavors.

Decanter (2012) - 90 pts

Antiguas was once the most traditional and respected Cabernet from Chile. Nowadays, it continues to deliver a clear expression of Maipo Cabernet with ripe red fruit and spices. The warm vintage delivers sweet tannins and round texture.”-- 03/01/2015
