Wine tasting notes

Ruby red in colour, with perfumes of cherry, strawberry and wild cherry. The complex palate displays fruity notes and has a lovely freshness on the finish complemented by a spicy character.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2011) - 88 pts

eRobertParker.com #216 Dec 2014 - Monica Larner - Showing some heat from the vintage, the 2011 Valpolicella Superiore Ruberpan opens to soft tones of cherry marmalade and blackberry jelly. More complex tones of leather and spice fill in the rear but the wine tastes sweet and fruit-forward overall. Drink Ruberpan within the next 36 months.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2009) - 88 pts

The 2009 Valpolicella Superiore Ruberpan emerges from the glass with silky, refined red berries, flowers and mint. This is an especially medium-bodied, polished Valpolicella that emphasizes textural elegance and freshness. The 2009 spent two years in 500 liter barrels followed by one year in bottle.-- Antonio Galloni

JancisRobinson.com (2011) - 16 pts

Tasted June '14 - A blend of Corvina, which at quite high altitude here (500 m) gives lovely cherry-scented perfume, Corvinone which adds spicy white pepper notes and body and a touch of Croatina, bringing freshness and bite. Mid ruby. Much more delicate than the average Valpolicella. Very interesting! Sweet, a tiny bit like a blend of Amarone and water...! But it has integrity and is certainly not overoaked. Savoury, tangy finish.

Wine Spectator (2010) - 89 pts

June '15 - Bright, showing raspberry and pomegranate fruit, this balanced red is framed by lightly chewy tannins and tangy acidity, with fragrant floral, dried herb and fresh earth notes. Drink now through 2018

James Suckling (2013) - 91 pts

A beautiful fresh and balanced red with lemon, strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a clean finish. Drink now.
