Durif / Petite Syrah
Black grape variety, known to be a cross of Syrah and Peloursin. Previously grown in France in the 1880's primarily for its high resistance to Downy Mildew, but excellent wines were not achieved. Today it is not often found in France, but more often in North and South America where it is known as Petite Sirah. Durif is grown in Australia's Rutherglen where it produces a high quality, deep coloured wine.
