Wine tasting notes

A 100% Garganega from the hillside slopes of the Soave Classico area, this shows nice weight and body. Exhibits tremendous elegance and vitality, notes of citrus peel, Mirabelle, Williams pear and red apple with a gentle buttery character.

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2015) - 88 pts

May 2017 - Monica Larner - Gini always makes a clean and straight-shooting base white wine. The 2015 Soave Classico is an easy-drinking expression that would wash down nicely with steamed fish or sushi. The wine is linear and tight, and makes the best of the appellation's well-draining, volcanic soils. This vintage is very balanced when it comes to acidity and citrus flavors. This is a great value.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2016) - 90 pts

June 2017 - Pale golden-tinged straw. Apple and pear on the perfumed nose. Light and lively but flavorful, with sneaky concentration and precision to the orchard fruit and fresh herb flavors. A lovely entry-level Soave that shows just how good this wine can be when it’s not reduced to a Sauvignon Blanc look-alike.

JancisRobinson.com (2016) - 16.5 pts

Tasted July 2017 - 60-year-old vines on volcanic soils. Inviting dusty pear aroma. Benchmark Soave – has the chalky texture, that slight pear grain, almost creamy, terrific freshness and a fine harmony between fruit and minerally terroir character. Soft and fresh on the finish. Delicious with a sour-fresh aftertaste. VGV (JH)

Wine Spectator (2016) - 90 pts

Top 100 2017#69 - A lithe, light-bodied white, with racy acidity and a subtle streak of mineral, layered with nectarine, melon and pink grapefruit pith flavors. This is well-knit, with a lingering, lightly spiced finish. Drink now through 2020.

James Suckling (2016) - 92 pts

Plenty of peach and lemon character with hints of green apple. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a flavorful finish. Drink now.

Wine Enthusiast (2015) - 90 pts

Aromas of tropical fruit, pressed wild flower and ripe orchard fruit lead the nose. The round savory palate offers juicy peach, red Bartlett pear and a white almond note. Energizing mineral lifts the creamy flavors.
