Wine tasting notes

The 2007 La Rocca Soave Classico is intense golden yellow in colour, it has perfumes of exotic fruit and almonds. On the palate it is rich, spicy and complex with a remarkably long finish.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2014) - 92 pts

May 2017 - Monica Larner - The 2014 Soave Classico la Rocca is a beautiful wine that should hold for the best part of the next decade. This is a sophisticated expression from the appellations with apricot, honey, saffron and slightly toasted oak aromas. The wine remains balanced and harmonious throughout, despite the difficulties of this vintage. Soft and luscious fruit flavors add weight and importance to the finish.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2015) - 92+ pts

Vivid golden-tinged straw. Sweet aromas of vanilla, orange oil, crème brulée and menthol on the nose. At once densely packed and taut, with powerful crushed stone flavors buffered by a touch of sweetness on the long back end that features hints of orange oil and ripe apricot. This sappy wine appears to have considerable aging potential. A lovely La Rocca. -- Ian D'Agata

JancisRobinson.com (2015) - 17 pts

Tasted June 2017 - Broad and quite rich and open. A completely different, more relaxed style than the I Frati I have just tasted. Rather confident and deep. Much more evolved and very complex.

Wine Spectator (2014) - 91 pts

Feb 2017 - Elegant and creamy, this light- to medium-bodied white offers rich hints of peach tart and pastry cream alongside more delicate honeysuckle, star fruit and ginger flavors. The fresh finish lingers with minerally smoke and stone notes. Drink now through 2021.

James Suckling (2014) - 94 pts

A dense and layered white with sliced-apple, pineapple and honey character. Medium to full body, hot stones, bright fruit and a long and flavorful finish. So many peach and lemon undertones. A gorgeous wine.

Wine Enthusiast (2014) - 93 pts

Spring wild-flower, yellow stone -ruit, aromatic herb and citrus aromas mark the nose of this radiant white. The dazzling palate doles out yellow peach, golden apple, lemon drop and nectarine zest, alongside crisp acidity that gives it a bright clean finish. A mineral note adds depth..
