Wine tasting notes

Textbook fresh grape and bergamot aromas, leading to lemon zest and spring blossom flavours on the palate. Technically bone dry, you hardly notice because of its intensity of aroma and flavour.

Food matching

Drink as an aperitif or with asparagus, spring vegetables, melon, artichoke, onion tart, smoked fish

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2011) - 90 pts

eRobertParker.com #214 Aug 2014 - David Schildknecht - Trimbach?s (as usual) 80% Ottonel 2011 Muscat d?Alsace Reserve is delightfully and pungently scented with mint and marjoram, along with surprising, striking intimations of sea breeze and shrimp shell reduction that have their mouthwatering counterparts on a juicy and invigorating as well as silken-textured palate. The freshness, sap and salinity on exhibit here not to mention their sheer follow-through are not what I expected from this vintage, much less expect from a wine so dominated by Ottonel. The natural bitterness of this variety is quite well-harnessed. Look for versatile employment at table or solo from this fine value through at least 2015.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2014) - 90 pts

Feb 2016 by Ian d'Agata - Bright yellow. Tangy orange peel and lemon jelly on the nose, complicated by a hint of dill. The palate shows a penetrating orange liqueur flavor, with grapefruit and white flowers in a supporting role. Not especially explosive or exotic, but delicately floral. Finishes juicy and long. This is a blend of 80% Muscat Ottonel and 20% Muscat d?Alsace.

Wine Spectator (2012) - 86 pts

Web ONly 2014 - Light-bodied and tangy, this dry Muscat shows notes of orange blossom and orange granita, with hints of lemongrass and spice.

James Suckling (2014) - 91 pts

Sept, 2015. Extremely perfumed with aromas of flowers such as lavenders and sliced apples. Full body, bright acidity and a long, dry finish. Super muscat. Released in 2016.
