Wine tasting notes

Intense garnet in the glass. Very fruity aromas of blackberries, wild black cherries and plums mingle with subtle rose and violet characters, with hints of spice. Warm and elegant, the long lasting flavours finish with a hint of cocoa.

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2013) - 93 pts

June 2016 - Monica Larner - Bruno Rocca does a fabulous job with his base Barbaresco. The 2013 Barbaresco is an elegant and streamlined wine with delicate nuances of dark fruit and wild berry backed by dried violets and white pepper. The approach is elegant, fine and silky. I highly recommend this wine for near and medium-term drinking.

Vinous/Antonio Galloni (2013) - 92 pts

Dec 2015 The 2013 Barbaresco is sweet, candied and perfumed, with striking aromatics, silky tannins and exceptional finesse. Just bottled, the 2013 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine. This is a wonderfully complete, impeccable Barbaresco from the Rocca family. Specifically, the 2013 is more finely cut and delineated than the 2012 tasted alongside it. -- Antonio Galloni

Wine Spectator (2012) - 92 pts

This is tightly wound, with a matrix of tannins supporting the cherry, strawberry, spice and tobacco flavors. Fine and balanced. Tar and earth accents chime in on the long finish.

James Suckling (2013) - 94 pts

Top 50 Value Wines 2016 - A bright and fruity red with plum and lemon rind aromas that follow through to a medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely length and finesse. Goes on for minutes. Drink or hold.
