Wine tasting notes

Deep garnet red with purple hues. Rich and elegant, this attractive Pinot Noir combines aromas of strawberries, black cherries, raspberries and dry plums with hints of chocolate and mocha. The palate is round and soft offering a rich texture and a lush finish.

Food matching

Pairs well with grilled or roasted red meats. Lamb tagine, steak, barbecued meat, spicy sausage or venison.

Expert reviews

James Suckling (2016) - 93 pts

I like the berry and tea leaf character here with hints of incense. Medium body, firm and lightly chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Always excellent. Drink now.

Decanter (2013) - 95 pts

Best Chilean Pinot Noir under £15 - This Curicó-based winery is one of Chile’s more traditional names in wine; the family boasts both Basque and French heritage. The house style of Roberto Echeverría and son Roberto Jr combines a typical Chilean intensity with an unashamedly old-school elegance and ageworthiness. This coastal Pinot Noir, though sourced far from the winery, is evidence of an assured hand, showing great development and charm. Peter Richards MW Some malty development overlaying the dried and juicy fresh fruit. A foodie style, in an elegant way. A developed Pinot Noir that needs drinking with food – beautiful stuff. Patricio Tapia Even though this looks and feels evolved, the tension of tannins is still there, giving life, light and strength to this old-school Pinot. Try it! Dirceu Vianna Jr MW What sophistication! Refined and elegant with inviting aromas of red fruits, wet earth and leather. Quite evolved for its age but beautifully complex with an amazingly satisfying texture. Dry, crisp, fresh and savoury. Drinking beautifully now.
