Wine tasting notes

Aromas of dark-skinned fruit, wild herb, forest floor and fragrant blue flower shape the nose. Linear and racy, the elegantly focused palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, licorice and tobacco while fine-grained tannins and firm acidity provide balance and support. Drink 2021–2029

Expert reviews

Wine Advocate/Robert Parker (2015) - 93 pts

Recognized by its red shield-shaped label, the Poggio San Polo 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and nicely concentrated expression of Sangiovese. This wine shows proverbial meat on its bones with rich cherry and cassis, backed by cola, potting soil and balsam wood. The bouquet grows in intensity as the wine warms in the glass. The tannins are well integrated within the depth and length of the mouthfeel.

JancisRobinson.com (2015) - 16.5 pts

Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. A touch earthy and smoky on the nose while the fruit hesitates to come out. Backward on the palate too and a little muted but with hints of dried fruit on the finish, which might be an indication that its development has already begun. (WS)
